Wouldn't you love to be a part of one of Davis' most fun, town-wide, bicycle-oriented events? Back by popular demand, the 2011 Tour De Cluck: A Bicycle Chicken Coop Crawl offers the chicken lovers and chicken curious among us an opportunity to visit a variety of Davis backyard chicken coops. Your participation in this bicycle paean to poultry will benefit Davis Farm to School's work to support local food in a healthy school environment.*** 16 riders are needed as route guides Saturday, May 14th. You'll meet a lot of nice people and have a blast.
Nineteen unique coops are presented in a self-guided tour with easy access to Davis's extensive network of bike paths and lanes. In addition to the egg-cellent Chicken Coop Crawl, the Tour de Cluck features the Fowl Food Fair at Davis Farmers Market, the outrageously popular chicken-themed Art Exhibit and Silent Auction and introduces “Chicken Skool” presentations! Here, experts inform your chicken decisions, from breed selection, coop design and building to chicken-keeping essentials and how to prepare those luscious homegrown eggs! Perks geared to our cycling visitors include rolling SAG and Valet Bicycle Parking at Central Park.
